Learn Something New

For 2011, I'm resolved to be a better learner by discovering (or falling upon... discovering sounds so smartsy) something new everyday. There is a HUGE world outside of my door, and there are so many things that I don't understand or am unaware of. To ignore them or to not be intentional about being a constant learner, is indeed quite arrogant. So I'm trying to retain the things that I learn throughout the day. They don't have to be HUGE life altering facts, they can be the tiniest things: learning a person's name, finding out more about a friend, learning how to thread my sewing machine, or it can be an interesting fact. In a nut shell I'm basically making an intentional choice to pay attention to the world and to actually store the knowledge rather than just letting it pass by. :) `

For example, yesterday I learned a girl's name who I've met a couple of times but never caught. Also, I learned about some crazy mommy bloggers who rule the world. AND I also learned about this fabulous sewing site that has free tutorials. Not life altering, yet extremely helpful (especially if you saw my first sewing project).

I'll try to keep you updated on my progress. So every now and then when I find out something crazy intriguing I'll fill you in. Hopefully these next few weeks when I'm in Turkey I'll run across quite a few interesting things to share. :)

And for those days when I'm evidently so ignorant of my surroundings that I can't seem to find anything new to learn (impossible, I know)... I'm now following Learn Something New Everyday on Twitter and stalking this Learn Something Every Day Blog (the latter is my fav). Problem Solved.
