Race Day Prayer

Father, I praise You for every good and perfect thing is from You (James 1:17).  Your steadfast love is great and your love endures to all generations (Psalms 117:2, 100:5). You have proclaimed your name: The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin (Exodus 34:6-7). Your name is my strong tower (Prov. 18:10).

Father, I pray for the Aids/HIV pandemic and those who are directly impacted by this crisis. I pray for our brothers and sisters in Africa who have been hit the worst. I pray for strength and courage to cling to you during their time of need. For those of them who are your children, I pray that you protect them and give them peace and hope. Lord, most of all I pray for those who do not have an understanding of the hope that is found in you and I ask that you draw them to you.

Father, I ask you to bless the funds that have been raised and that you will use the money for your glory.

Lastly Father, during this race help me to focus on you. Give me strength and endurance but Lord, help me remember why I'm doing this. Whatever today holds, may You receive the glory and honor for being a God who saves and cares for the oppressed and abandoned, the widowed and the orphaned, the hungry and the poor.

In the name of the Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
