Truth for Tuesday: Look & Live
Friends, this truth for Tuesday is going to be short... but sweet. Actually... it's not really sweet. Mainly just short and probably a little sassy. Definitely a little sassy.
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret about myself today.
I hate Christian music.
There I said it.
It's true & I'm sorry. And with that I am OFFICIALLY one of the WORST pastor's wife on the planet. I know. Go ahead... throw stones. I'm fine with it.
But let me explain.
I'm a child of the 80's, and my parents were also in ministry... so that means I grew up with a LOT of Christian music. A LOT of it. And I'm going to be honest with you, although there is SOME good music in the Christian industry... there is a LOT of BADDDDDDDD music. And so after a few decades of it, I chucked the WHOLE baby out with the bath water and swore to never to listen to another Christian radio station again. (FUN FACT: I even interned at a Christian radio station early in high school... The JFM anybody? Anybody? No? Oh well... continue to judge me. I'm fine with it.).
Alas, my college years were full of "secular" music and I refused to listen to any Christian music other than the stuff we sang in churches. I completely removed myself from that section of culture for a good 10 years. Which brings me to now...
I still have a bad taste in my mouth for Christian radio... & the likelihood of you finding me listening to it is about the same chances of finding the Mister sporting a UNC tshirt (yuck). BUT over the past few years, I have developed an appreciation for Christian artists that produce GOOD music with theologically sound music. I love an artist that releases an album full of truth and good music that doesn't hurt my ears.
Enter Matt Papa's Look and Live album.
Y'all, it's good.
Really good.
And on days when it's rainy in my soul... I turn it on... and I have truth sung to me.
This is NOT an advertisement for Matt Papa. Nope. I'm not getting paid. I'm just letting you know that on days like today, when I'm in need of truth... I turn on artists like him and I'm encouraged. So if you're looking for good music, good lyrics, and not wanting to stab your eyes out with a spoon... Check out Matt Papa's album Look and Live.
Listen & Be Encouraged.
That's all I got for this Truth for Tuesday. Not very devotional... I know. But it's true & honest... and it's all I got today.
Now I'm going to go back to monogramming, babies, and Matt Papa in the background.
Much love yall,
