Savannah Training Update...
So I haven't done a running post in a while so I figured it's about time... We're about at the halfway mark of training, and yet it kinda feels like the beginning of training. :) I don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. Sunday, Kelly and I went for our long run of 7 miles and it felt good but the last 1.5 mile I could tell my legs weren't wanting to go further. But still... we made it and with decent time for our first longer run.
Yesterday I ran to the gym, hit the elliptical for two miles, and then ran back and did some speed work and once again my legs were feeling good, but I could feel it towards the end.
THEN... today, Kelly and I were going for a 4 mile run... but I only made it 3. WHAT?! I know... that is ridiculous. I don't know what happened. My legs were so tight it felt like I was running with bricks on my achilles again and then around mile 2.2 that sharp pain started shooting from my ankle up my shin again. I don't know what happened?! To say I was discouraged would be an understatement... BUT have no fear...
I think I semi-know what part of the problem is. I haven't switched out my shoes in a while. I'm running on the same pair of shoes I trained and ran my marathon in. You would think I would have learned my lesson. I've definitely surpassed the 300-500 mileage range. Whooopsies. Mama Donald gave me some cash for my bday specifically for buying new running shoes and compression socks and I've yet to make it to the store. SO... with that being said, I've told myself that by Sunday I need to go purchase new shoes. You can keep me accountable. But seriously... who has to keep girls accountable on buying shoes???? Consider it done.
So all that to say... that's my running update. I feel like we're on track... now if only I can prevent my legs from getting to the point they were during my Spring training.
Ok, but before I go... I wanted to say...
HAPPPPPPPY BIRTHDAY to the sweet Shelly Moore!!! I just love love love that girl. So thankful for her encouraging words, insight, and presence in my life. You should go to her blog or her facebook page and wish her a very happy birthday... :)
