House Selling & Pack Pride

Oh Hey there friends.  Happy Labor Day!

This weekend has been so much fun. Well actually it's been crazy. The littles and I have temporarily relocated to my inlaws while our casa is on the market. I know all you mamas out there are in agreement, trying to keep your house in tip top shape with little people around is next to impossible. And some of you are a lot cleaner than me, so yeah... We de-babied the house, vacuumed one last time, and left the Mister to fend for himself for a few days in hopes for a quick sell.

We're still hoping & we're still at my inlaws.

I know that for some folks, the idea of staying with their inlaws for more than 2 days gives you hives. Not me. I get excited. I lay out by the pool with the babies and eat reese's cups all day. Which puts a slight kink in my "LGFC" diet, but hey... it's totally worth it.  (Fyi: LGFC stands for Look Good For Cruise bc we're going on one in November... and I'm trying to lose those final baby lbs. Which might be reeses lbs... let's just be honest... regardless... you get the idea).

All that to say... the babes and I are making messes at my inlaw's & straight chillin there these past few days.

Something else SUPER exciting happened this weekend...

Our Wolfpack pulled in their first W of the season and the babies had their first tailgate of the year. And... I'd like to say that they were perfect angels... but they may or may not have been teething a bit. And they definitely were a leeeettle needy. You know those moments when you have an idea of how something is going to go and then it turns out exactly OPPOSITE?? Yesterday was a good example of that in my life.

When I thought of the tailgate, I thought of smiling babies being passed around... Babies playing blissfully in their play area... Staying all four quarters with happy children cheering on our team... And perfect naps during down time. BAHAHAHAHAHA. It kind of happened that way... but not really at all. We didn't plan on hanging out in the play area with them...

Noel was teething and running a fever, and they both were just a little funky. So we stayed for the first quarter and then took the girls to nap during the rest of the game. It was still a lot of fun... just not the perfect ideal I had imagined. I'm quickly learning that as a mom, this is life in a nutshell. It rarely happens the way you plan it & flexibility is key. I'm also learning that not everyone can be the mom with perfect kids. Some days you're just going to be that mom with the screaming kids who give the word DIVA a whole new meaning. And you don't love your kids any more or less. It just is what it is!  All you can do shake your head, pop in another reese's cup, and keep on trucking. That's what we did yesterday. And overall, it was a really good day! It was just blatantly obvious that my children were in a funk.  We all have those days... when at the end of the day you give your spouse a high five, collapse on the bed, and say WE SURVIVED. Well, I went home with my in laws so that didn't happen... but you get the idea.

Alright yall, I hope you have a FABULOUS Labor Day tomorrow. The babes and I will be straight chilling at the lake with The Mister and inlaws! Much love!

Nashvegas

Well folks, we made it. We survived our first road trip with the babies... Whew!

photo 1

Don't be fooled by these cute sweet CALM faces... although they were fantastic and chill riders (for the most part) they were just saving all their energy for the night time party. What party you asked? The one that involved them losing it for HOURS in the hotel room...

photo 2

Again, don't be fooled, this looks like they're sleeping... And they are... but this is morning time... when they should be awake... Evidently all that screaming for no reason is exhausting.

But.... We eventually did make it to Opryland Hotel which is spectacular and all things pretty! My favorite was at night when everyone cleared out and it seemed empty and the lights shined beautifully against the dark sky. I loved it.

photo 2

But I'm getting ahead of myself... ANYWAYS... We arrived at Opryland, gave the babies to my parents to keep for TWO nights (wowzas), and then went on our way to cheer for the Wolfpack.

The Mister was pumped. :) I only cried for a little while... and then was perfectly elated about the idea of uninterrupted sleep.

So we went to support the wolfpack... and boy did they need some support because that game was just sad... :(

But in true Salmon fashion, we all had a great time regardless! :)

I will add this side note of a story for your entertainment. There was only one point in the trip that was slightly awkward... Towards the end of the game I noticed that my stomach felt really cold (it was sleeting and pretty chilly outside)... So I unzipped my vest to find a nice round wet spot from "leaking." Awesome. No big deal, I'll just pump in the van when I get back right? Well, yes, I did do that, but by the time I got there my entire undergarments were SOAKED. So naturally, I'm pumping in the back of a 15 passenger van with my in-laws driving around Nashville getting ready to go eat like this is normal right? And what to do with my soaking undergarment & shirt? Well, the mister dried my shirt at one vent, but it just wasn't doing the trick on my bra so naturally we just pass it up... past my brother in law and his girlfriend, my sister in law and family friend Jules... to my mil, who is sitting right next to my pil, who then dries my bra at the vents at the front of the van while I'm wrapped up in a blanket pumping in the back.

The funny thing is, it wasn't until about 15 minutes in when I was like... this just isn't normal. It cannot be this normal to be THIS comfortable with your in laws. And then it hit me that my bra was being held by my MIL, next to my PIL, had been passed through other family members' hands, and I was in the back of a 15 passenger van milking myself with a blanket wrapped around me. Oh the things you do while nursing to try to live a normal life...

Anyways, the trip was a lot of fun and we now have our sweet baby girls back in our care and life is normal again. Well, as normal as it can be... ;)

Nashvegas was good to us. Hopefully next year we can pull out a W though...

Much love,

Happy Due Date (a few days late)

Yikes a Bee! It's been way too long since I've posted. It's crazy how time flies when you're rocking sweet babies.

It's been a little crazy here the past week or so but I feel like I'm getting into a new normal. The girls finally turned ZERO!!!  YES!!!!!!! Some of y'all are like... WHAT?!? I thought they were 2 months - and they are! But until they reached their due date we've been counting up to their 40 week gestational age. We feel like we've been in the negatives... -9 weeks, -5 weeks, -2 weeks, etc. But NOW that they're 2 months old, we finally hit their due date and we can start treating them like "newborns" instead of preemies. It was pretty exciting! In order to celebrate, we decided it was time to introduce the girls to their first Wolfpack tailgate.

They LOVED it. Actually they really did... they slept... A LOT... which is a rare thing these days. We wrapped those wolfpups up in Moby wraps and they were happy as they could be. We were also pretty excited that the babies' first game was a W. And a big W at that. Way to go Pack at owning the #3 ranked FSU!

Baby girls are getting GINORMOUS. We had to take them for their first "sick" doctors visit today and Felicity weighed in at 6 lb 9 oz and Noel weighed in at a whopping 7 lb and 2 oz! :) They are getting so big I can't even stand it! They are definitely keeping us on our toes as both of them have reflux and a bit of colic. Mil and Pil stayed the weekend with us to help out and my mom and gma are coming in tonight to help out. Praise GOD for family! Otherwise I would go days without sleep - literally. During the night it seems like as soon as we get one baby calm and asleep, the other one wakes up and gets going! It is cray cray up in here - but even though it's hard, I'm still LOVING being their mom. Also, we get some sweet naps in while holding them... I mean, how can you NOT be in love with this?

We're tired, but happy. Oh so happy.

Also I'm getting used to smelling like spoiled milk and not showering. For those of you who knew me from college, we all know that I think it's a fun challenge to see how long I can go without showering without people being able to tell. This whole spit up, leaking milk thing has really up'd the game. I mean seriously... I may or may not have gone out in public to a dr.'s appointment AND to small group with spit up caked in my hair last monday. I mean. What's a girl to do? Two words and One Phrase: "Dry Shampoo" & "Rock that updo." Done & Done.

Alright y'all, I gotta go change diapers and get the girls ready to pick up Grammy and Nanny.

Much Love,
